18 Red took 3rd in the Open division to earn a bid to Nationals. Congratulations girls!

The 18 Red parents and players want to send a huge thank you out to the 12 Red players for coming to watch them a little each day , especially the final day when 18 Red was playing Austin Jrs. It was a huge game for them and the support and cheering from 12 Red was key in helping them win the game. Thanks 12 Red!

Lone Star Qualifier - Week 2

It's Day 2 here at Lone Star and our teams are doing a great job.

18 Red won their pools both days and have advanced to the Gold bracket for their final day in Open tomorrow.

18 White got 2nd in their pool the first day and 3rd today. They are headed to the bronze bracket in the morning.

17 Red placed 3rd on day 1 and and 2nd on day 2. They are in open and playing Colorado Jrs in the morning.

17 White got 4th in their pool the first day, but today they got 1st!

16 Red has played great both days. They won their pool both days and are headed to the Gold bracket!

16 White-Sammy got 3rd in their 1st pool. Today they won their pool!

16 White-Jimy did well their first day and got 3rd in their pool today.

12 Red placed 3rd in their pool yesterday and then dominated their pool today, taking 1st.

Houston Shoot Out

This weekend was the finals for the Houston ShootOut. It has been a great tournament hosted by us, Tornados and AVA.

18 Red took 2nd and 17 Red took 3rd in the 17s/18s division. 18 White ended 30th and 17 White ended 39th.

In the 16s division: 16 White-Jimy took 15th, 16 Red took 17th (Winning the Bronze Division), 16 White-Sammy took 20th, and 16 Blue ended up in 46th.

Great job to all of our teams!

Day 2-Lone Star Qualifier

Day 1, morning wave - Lone Star Classic

Today is Day 1 of the Lone Star Qualifier in Dallas. Our 13-15 Red and White teams are all playing this weekend. Here is an update on what happened in the morning wave of Day 1.

15 Red: Won their pool beating all of their opponents in 2 sets.

15 White-Leah: Ended up tied for 2nd and had to play in a tie breaker where they won, ending up in 2nd for the day

15 White-Brad: Won 2 of 3 matches, placing them 2nd in their pool for Day 1.

Great job today and Good luck to the 15s tomorrow!

Coming up in the evening wave are our 13s and 14s. Good luck to each of them!

Happy Easter

I hope everyone enjoys the Easter break and gets to spend plenty of time with family and friends. It is a great feeling knowing the Jesus died on the cross for our sins and rose again on Easter.

Now that April is upon us, we are nearing the end of the club season. Coming up the next two weeks we have the Lone Star Qualifier in Dallas for all the travel teams. Soon after will be a few other tournaments and then Regionals. Good luck to everyone!

Summer League begins June 7th and the first turn in deadline is NEXT TUESDAY!! (APRIL 6th). Make sure to get your entry forms in ASAP!

14 White-Brooke

Well- “We had a great time,” said coach Brooke Todd of the 14 White BT team. The girls went to Spokane on a mission… They accomplished some goals and left a couple unfinished. They came to win and win they did, but not the entire Pacific Northwest Qualifier. Overall, Asics Willowbrook 14 White BT left with a winning record and even played some great games, close games in the process. They had their ups and downs, but overall, they had lots of fun and the team bonded better than ever. The team played some awesome teams and scared some folks in the process, not to mention, taking the 2nd overall seeded team to three, in front of a stunned crowd of hundreds, on the first day. The team, a local favorite, University Place Volleyball Club of Steilacoon, WA, who went on to win the entire tournament, had not seen a serve-receive so receptive to their serves in some time, said assistant coach Keith Slade. The entire gang had some great times eating out as a team and celebrating some birthdays while the parents bonded as well. And- Even got to watch the UH game on TV that was taking place right down the road. On Sunday, some of the girls took advantage of the free time and trekked into the mountains for some tubing in the snow. One of the most memorable moments of the trip was when the girls and coach donned their homemade Dig Pink T-shirts they made especially for the trip in recognition of Breast Cancer Awareness. Coach Todd, said, “I was very impressed with the overall participation regarding the event as my sister is a survivor and so is Kelly Harris, one of our moms ." "Now we take the experience and use it to our advantage to help grow the girls even more for the rest of the year," said Brooke.

Spokane - 14 White Brittany

Way to go 14 White BP! They had an outstanding tournament in Spokane, WA. Going into the tournament, the girls (and parent's) did not know what to expect. Not only were they missing a couple players, they were going in with a new coach filling in for Brittany. Carey Todd took the team and challenge on and with nothing but high expectations! The first day, the girls were 2-1 in match pool play and 5-2 in games. On day 2 though, the level of play was stepped up! The girls went in with the attitude of we deserve to be in the gold bracket and we will not settle for anything less! They did just that! Going 3-0 in match play and 6-0 in games, the defeated the #5 and #9 overall seeds of the tournament taking over the overall 5th seed! On day 3, they showed up defeating Xtreme 14 Purple from Houston in two games which advanced them to the Quarterfinals of the gold bracket. The next match was a battle and they were defeated 13-15 to send them home. The girls were amazing and we are so proud of their accomplishments of bringing home a 5th place finish!

Great job 14 White BP and continue the success throughout the season!! It was a pleasure coaching you this past weekend and I hope you learned that you can do anything you put your mind and heart into!

Here Today, Gone Tomorrow

February flew by very quickly! I can't believe it will be March next week!!

We have had a very busy past few weeks. We had a number of teams head to Dallas for the 2nd Tour stop and they all did very well. We had 16 Blue play in a Texas Team tournament, the 15s play in a Willowbrook tournament, the 14s play in a Willowbrook tournament, the 13s play in a Spike Sport tournament, the the Blue Gators played in a Willowbrook tournament. All of our teams will be playing this weekend or next so good luck to everyone.

It has been very busy around Willowbrook. A few weeks ago was the Tour Qualifier. In Austin, we had 13 Red qualify for the Tour of Texas. Congratulations to them!

This past weekend we had the Houston Power League again at Willowbrook. All of our teams 12s-15s played and did a great job. We are so proud of all the progress they are making.

14 White-Brooke

So- there they were seated third in their pool and after the first match, they then realized why... Well-that is where they finished on Saturday and though it is not what most teams strive for, Asics Willowbrook 14 White BT were pleasantly delighted based on the talent in their pool. And- they were not out of contention yet. 14 White BT was given a lifeline via a crossover match later Saturday evening. They won in two and everyone witnessed a new team emerging.

The topper to the evening, besides winning, was all of the support from the other white team- 14 White BP, their parents and a surprise visit by a dear friend and guest of coach Brooke Todd, who came to support the girls. Former Willowbrook player and UT Middle Blocker, Jen Doris paid them a visit and cheered the team to victory. She took the time to meet and greet the girls and posed for team pictures afterwards. She was such a sport, she even showed up on Sunday to watch their pool. Great to see such alumnus support!

These girls have come so far and more importantly, they are having a great time. As coach, Brooke said, "We could not have made it so far without help from every single player on this team- These Girls Rock!"

"We didn’t qualify, but, we played hard, fought like champs and learned much from a wonderful weekend of volleyball and bonding and that is all you can ask for!" said coach Todd.

Tour Qualifier and 12s

This weekend we have the Tour Qualifier for our travel teams 13-18. The 13s and 14s will be playing in Austin and the 15s-18s will be in San Antonio. We want to wish all of the teams good luck. Tournament Time

We are definitely getting right into tournament season. Last weekend was the Houston Power League that all of our 12s-15s played in. We are excited that each of our teams did well.

This weekend we have the Houston Shootout for all of the 16s-18s. We wish all of our teams good luck!

Remember: All teams playing at Willowbrook. Every Sunday we have a Devotional at 7:15am in the Plex area of the gym. We hope you/your family/friends can make it over before the tournament begins.

I hope everyone had a very Merry Christmas. Willowbrook is excited about the upcoming year. We have 29 teams this season and we are looking forward to watching all of them!

2 of our coaches, Rich Richardson and Gordon Morrison, our Tournament Director, have been chosen to officiate the 2010 Special Olympics National Games. The games will be held in Nebraska in July and only a select number of referees from around the nation were chosen to officiate. Congratulations to both of them!

Congratulations are also in order for Mirela Lindeen. She coached with us for many years and had a beautiful baby boy, Anthony, on Monday, December 28th. Congratulations to Mirela and Tony!

This past weekend was a busy one at Willowbrook. On Friday we dealt with the snow and slush as did everyone else around Houston.

On Saturday we started our tournament later then normal due to weather concerns, but it ran very smoothly. With TRV winning the tournament and Willowbrook 15 Red coming in a close 2nd. Sunday went just as well with Willowbrook 18 Red winning the 18s and Willowbrook 17 Red winning the 17s. Congratulations to all the teams!

Last Wednesday, The University of Texas played Texas A&M in College Station. Many of our players and families went and watched the game. Jennifer Doris plays for UT and is a former Willowbrook player. She did a great job and we are so proud of all her hard work and dedication.

Fall League is Over

We all had a great time with the Fall League, but it has come to an end. All the teams learned a lot and had a ton of fun. Here are pictures of all the teams.

Many of the players are continuing on with us either in our Gators program or our Juniors Club program. We can't wait to watch them progress even more and really learn the game of volleyball.

We are staying busy around Willowbrook this September.

Fall League is in full swing. Every Monday and Wednesday we have a bunch of 2nd - 7th graders in the gym learning and playing volleyball. It is great to have them learning proper technique and putting what they learn into game situations. We have three more weeks of the fall league and are excited to watch them continue to learn.

Sunday Skills Sessions are also ongoing. Every Sunday during the fall, from 2pm-4pm, we hold these sessions where players can come in and get some position training. It is great for the girlss to get some extra training that they may not be getting in school ball.

This coming Saturday there is a really neat going on at Willowbrook.

Wrestling

This past Friday we had the World of Wrestling Texas at Willowbrook. It was an exciting night packed with entertaining action. The wrestlers put on a great performance. The best part of the event was that it was very family friendly. There is no profanity used and it is an all around good time.

I can't believe how fast time is flying. It is already September!

We have a lot of things going on this month at Willowbrook. Tomorrow night, Friday the 4th, we are having Pro Wrestling at 7pm. It should be very entertaining! Check out the flyer on our webpage, Click Here!

Next week we are hosting the Patriots' Day Junior College Volleyball Tournament. It will be held on September 11th and 12th with games all day. There will be plenty to watch and we will also be having autpgraph sessions with the players. The Thursday night before the game, September 10th, at 7pm, we are hosting a Combine for Juniors and Seniors that are unsigned. If you are interested in the tournament or combine, you can go to our website and click on the links.

September 13th will be the start to Sunday Skills Sessions. These will run from 2-4 and it a great chance for players to get some position training and work on technical skills. Register Today!

September 14th starts our Gator Instructional Fall League. The league runs for 4 weeks on Monday and Wednesday nights from 6pm-8pm. The league is for 2nd-7th graders. You can register online today for the league!

Summer is winding down, but Willowbrook is staying busy. We still have a lot going on at the Complex and we hope you will join us!

This week at Willowbrook and next week we have the Last Chance Camp happening. This is a great camp for those players heading into 7th or 8th grade and are wanting to try out for their junior high teams. You can still sign up for next week's camp if you are interested. Also this week we have make up TRYOUTS for our club teams. We still have spots left on many of our teams and we would love for you to be a part of the club. Tryouts are this Thursday, August 13th at 6pm at Willowbrook. We also have tryouts for 16s-18s on Sunday, August 16th at 2pm.

Fall League sign ups are in full swing. The Gator Fall League begins on September 14th and runs for 4 weeks. This is for players in 2nd-7th grade. The league gives them a place for instruction as well as a chance to play other girls their age. To sign up for the Fall League you can Click Here!

Also coming up soon is the Willowbrook Patriots' Day Junior College Tournaments. Coming September 11th and 12th we will be hosting numerous Junior College teams including Blinn, San Jacinto, Miami-Dade, and many more!

More Summer League Finals

Wednesday night we had the Junior Varsity/Varsity Finals for Summer League. There was some tough competition in the final few rounds. The Black Cobras and the Lady Lions tied for third, TX Elite placed second, and Katy Red won the division.

Thursday night we had the finals for 8th grade. The Pink Zebras and the Rangers made it to the semi finals and ended up getting 3rd place. The Lucky 13s placed second and V-8 won. Here are a couple pictures of the 8th grade Finals teams.

Summer League Finals

This is Finals week for Summer League here at Willowbrook. On Monday we had the Freshman finals. The Final results consisted of JVIL 14 and OutRageous! tying for third, The Janitors placing second, and Willowbrook 14 White winning the division. Tuesday night we had the 5th/6th grade and 7th grade finals. For the 5th/6th grade division we had the Pumas and the Individual Team 1 tying for third, the Red Hots 11 Red placing second, and the Red Hots 11 Black winning the tournament. Here are some pics of the teams.

For the 7th grade division we had Willowbrook 12 Silver and Red Hots 12 Red tying for third, Cypress Elite coming in second, and Splat Attack winning the division.

Willowbrook held tryouts last week for their club volleyball teams. We had a bunch of players come out and have formed some awesome teams. We still have a few spots available at different age groups so if you missed tryouts for some reason, you can still play. You can email Scott at scott@willowbrooksports.com and set up a private evaluation. We will also be holding make up tryouts soon so keep checking the website for those dates.

We also are in the full swing of camps. We still have another month of camps available for most ages so Register Today! The Camp information as well as registration is available through the website, www.willowbrooksports.com.

Next week is the last week of Summer League. We have had a great time watching all of the teams play and enjoy the evenings. We will have a single elimination, tournament style bracket set up for next week and will crown the winners of each age group. JO's (Nationals) in Miami

We have finally returned from Miami where we had a great time with all three of our teams.

17 Red started playing last Sunday and placed 19th overall in the 17 Open division. They were in a tough pool and a strong division in general so we are very proud of how they did.

15 Red began two days later on Tuesday. They did great placing third in their pool after the first two days. They then went on to win their 3 team pool the third day and barely missed going to the gold bracket for the final day. Playing well they ended up in 10th place overall, 2nd in the silver bracket.

14 Red played well all 4 of their days. They advanced to the Silver bracket for the final day and ended up winning the whole bracket. This placed them 9th in 14 National division.

AAU Championships-Part 2!

The AAU Championships are officially over. Our 16 Red team did fantastic. They won everything the first two days. They then advanced to the Championship Division and ended up placing 9th overall! Our 17 White team played great as well. They ended up getting 3rd place in the Consolation Division. Congratulations to both of these teams on a fantastic season.

We have three more teams still practicing and preparing for their final tournament. Our 14 Red, 15 Red, and 17 Red teams all play next week in Miami for Junior Nationals (Juniors Olympics). We are excited to watch them and see how they finish up in Miami.

AAU Championships-Part 1

We have two teams that just finished play in Orlandp for the AAU Championships.

Our 12 Red team did great, going 2-1 the 1st and 2nd days and making it into the Classic Bracket. Here is a picture of the girls getting excited about the tournament!

Our 13 Red team has also been in Orlando for the tournament. They played well all four days, making it to the finals of the Consolation Bracket.

Congratulations to both teams on a successful year!

Our 16 Red and 17 White teams are headed to Orlando as we speak, to begin play tomorrow at AAUs. We wish them the best of luck, and can't wait to see how they do.

A big congratulations is in order for Katie Messing! She has played on our 17 Red team and has now made the US Girls' Youth National Volleyball Team!

Katie will be heading to Thailand with the team at the end of the month to compete in an International tournament. Katie is the 2nd Willowbroook player to make the Youth National Team. Jennifer Doris, now at the University of Texas, also competed on this team before going off to college.

Willowbrook is very proud of Katie and excited for what the future holds for her. Congrats!

Summer is Here!

We are picking up speed again here at Willowbrook.

We are getting so excited about the upcoming Summer League. We have a ton of teams signed up and are getting more in every day. It should be a fun filled summer for all these players. They will get the chance to have fun, keep there hands on the ball, be competitive, and hang out with friends.

It's May Already!

This weekend we had a great Regionals tournament. Our 12 Red team played in the club division and got 1st place!!! Our 13 Red team made it into the top 16 while our White and Silver teams did well also. 14 Red took 2nd place in the bid division and booked themselves a trip to Miami for Nationals. 14 White and 15 White both played well as did 16 White. 15 Red took 3rd place in the bid division making it to Nationals as well. 16 Red lost their challenge match but won the Silver division. 17 White had a great tournament as well, just falling short of getting a bid.

Congratulations to all the teams on a great season and good luck to those headed to post season.

Last Weekend in April

We are coming to the end of the club season and we are staying busy. This past weekend we had 5 teams travel to Reno to compete in a Qualifier. All of the teams did well, making it into the Gold pools or division on Sunday. The 18s ended up placing 5th and 17 Red placed 3rd.

This past week we also had Mallory and Jackie spray paint their volleyballs at Willowbrook. Jackie has committed to Colorado School of Mines and Mallory has committed to Midwestern State. We are so excited for both of them.

Lone Star - Weekend 2

This past weekend we had 8 teams up in Dallas competing in the 2nd weekend of the Lone Star Classic. Our 15 Red team made it to the Silver bracket and placed 17th out of 184 teams. 15 White also did well ending up 82nd. 14 Red made it to the Gold division and ended up 15th. 14 White played well and placed 88th. 13 Red placed 25th, 13 Silver placed 97th and 13 White placed 103rd. Our 12 Red team also competed well placing 41st.

Willowbrook hosted a 17/18 tournament this weekend as well. Our 17 Blue team and our 18 White team both competed and made it to the finals. They played each other and 18 White ended up in 1st Place.

This coming up weekend we have 5 teams heading to Reno for a Qualifier as well as our 14 and 13 local teams competing in tournaments. Good Luck to everyone!

I hope everyone had a wonderful Easter with their families!

We had 4 teams that competed in the Lone Star Classic this past weekend. 16 Red played hard and made it into the Silver bracket. They ended up 23rd. 17 Red made it to the Gold division, playing Tornados 17 Mizuno for 3rd place. 17 Red won in team, ending up in 3rd place and gaining a bid to Nationals! Congrats to them. 17 White worked hard and was in the Bronze division yesterday where they ended in 31st place. 18 White competed hard as well and placed 82nd.

Good job teams! This weekend we have Lone Star for the younger age divisions. We have 8 teams travelling to Dallas to compete and we wish them the best of luck.

April has Arrived!

It is already April and we are in the middle of the qualifiers now.

This past weekend our 15 Red team went to Atlanta and placed 19th. Our 18 Red team competed in the Sho-Me Qualifier in Kansas City and they placed 4th!

We also had many teams competing in the Power League Finals. 12 Red played at Willowbrook and they ended up in 2nd place!

12 White tied for 3rd in the Silver division, 12 Silver got 2nd in the Bronze division and 12 Blue placed 7th in Flight 2.

13 White and Silver tied for 4th in the Silver division and 13 Blue placed 2nd in Flight 2. 14 White placed 2nd in the Bronze division, Blue tied for 3rd in the Bronze, Green won their Flight and Silver tied for 7th in theirs. 15 White got 2nd in the tournament and Blue tied for 5th in the Silver division. 16 White got 4th place in the tournament and 16 Blue tied for 5th in the Bronze division.

The past two weekends have been very busy for Willowbrook teams, and it will only get busier. On March 14th and 15th, Cross Court was held in Houston and we had 15 teams participate.

12 Red made it to the Gold bracket and ended up getting 13th place.

Our 13s did well also. Blue got 41st, White got 37th, Silver got 23rd, and Red won 2nd place!

14 Silver and Green both place 61st, Blue got 31st, White got 7th and Red got 3rd in the Open division.

15 Red got 2nd in the Open division and in the Club division White got 7th and Blue got 31st.

16 Blue place 27th in their tournament and 17 Blue placed 25th.

This past weeked, the Tour Finals were held in San Antonio. 16 Red placed 13th in the tournament, 18 Red placed 5th, and our 17 Red placed 1st!!

Congratulations to all of our teams for improving and playing so great the past few weekends.

Spring is Here!

Willowbrook had a great time this past weekend. We hosted a 14s tournament as well as a 17s tournament. Our 14 White team won the 14s tournament, with 14 Blue coming in a close 2nd. The 14 Green team also made it into the Gold bracket. In the 17s tournament our 17 White team won the tournament!

The Texas Championship Series Finals were this weekend as well. All 3 of our teams participating in the tournament did well. Our 13 Red team ended with an even record, in 12th place. Our 14 Red team won all of their matches during the finals and won the Silver division! Our 15 Red team won their pool and ended up in 3rd place overall. Great job to all of these teams for their hard work!

Another stop on the Tour of Texas took place in Dallas this past weekend. Our 18 Red team won 2 out of 3 matches, staying in the gold division. 17 Red won 2 out of 3 matches as well placing them in 2nd place overall. 16 Red had a great weekend, moving up from the bronze division to the silver division.

Our 12s and Gators played in a Spike Sport tournament this weekend. 12 Red ended up getting 2nd place in the tournament which is awesome.

We are going full blast this volleyball season. We have tournaments every weekend at Willowbrook and teams playing places every weekend as well.

All of the Willowbrook teams are playing very well. This past weekend we held a 16's tournament at Willowbrook and our 16 Red team took 1st place!

This weekend we had many of our teams playing.

15 Red, 14 Red, and 13 Red played in the first TCS Stop this weekend in Dallas. 13 Red played well and remained in their division. 14 Red lost their first match, but came back strong winning their next 3. They beat Southwest, TAV and then Alamo in their cross over match. 15 Red did the same as 14 Red, losing the first match then winning the next 3. They also beat Alamo in their cross over match. Congratulations to all 3 teams on playing well this weekend.

The 12s and 14s played in the Willowbrook tournament. All of the teams played very well. 12 Red placed 2nd in the tournament and 14 White placed 2nd as well. The Gators also played for their first time in a tournament. All 3 of the teams had a great time and improved throughout the day. On Sunday Willowbrook hosted the 11 and under tournament that our 11 and under d evelopmental teams played in. The team played well and definitely learned a lot throughout the day.

The 13 White and Silver teams played in the AVA tournament in Dickinson. Both teams did well with Silver making it to the semifinals.

Happy New Year! It has already been a great 2009 for Willowbrook and I know that it can only get better.

This past weekend we had 10 teams competing in the Tour of Texas and TCS Qualifiers in Austin. All of the teams had some great competition and played well. Our 13-18 Red teams all qualified for either to Tour or TCS so we are very excited for them!

I hope everyone had a great Christmas. It is always nice to spend some quality time with your family and friends and remember that the reason we are celebrating Christmas is because of the birth of Jesus Christ.

And then like a snap, Christmas is over and it is back to volleyball!

Practices resume on Sunday and then a number of our teams will be heading of to the Tour of Texas and TCS Qualifier. Good luck to all of our teams competing for a spot.

On Monday and Tuesday we have a Winter Camp at Willowbrook geared toward the 8-12 year old players. It is from 9am - 4pm and is only $150. You can still sign up for it at www.willowbrooksports.com.

Another Great Weekend

We had another weekend with our teams playing well and representing Willowbrook nicely.

Congratulations to our 15 Red, 16 Red, 17 Red, and 18 Red teams for winning their tournaments. 14 Red came in 2nd place and 13 Red came in 5th. They all played some really good teams, but they came out ahead. Here are a couple of pictures from the weekend.

What a Weekend

This was the first weekend with tournaments for our teams. A big congratulations to all the teams for playing well.

Congratulations to our 14 Red, 15 Red, and 17 Red teams for winning their tournaments. Also to 12 Red and 18 Red for getting 2nd place and 13 Red for getting 3rd place. All of the teams competed well and represented Willowbrook nicely.

A few upcoming events happening at Willowbrook. All 15s-18s parents of Willowbrook players are invited to a Recruiting Night at Willowbrook. This will be held on Friday, December 19th from 6pm-8pm with the recruiting information discussion for the parents starting around 7pm. 17s and 18s players are invited to get videoed during some skills sessions for recruiting videos. They will also get their headshot taken for the website, so please wear your uniforms.

On Saturday, December 20th at 1pm, we will be holding an Information Meeting for All New Parents (including Gators and 11 and Unders) We will be giving you the inside information on club volleyball, tournaments, and all other things volleyball.

We have a number of teams playing in tournaments again this weekend, so good luck to everyone!

November is Here!

November is upon us and that means that club practices begin very soon! We are very excited to have everyone back in the gym!

November 12th at 7pm we are having our Willowbrook Signing Party! If you are a Willowbrook Club member or a parent of a player, you are more than welcome to come. This is a time to celebrate with the girls that will be signing their commitment letters to play volleyball in college. Come support our players and celebrate with us at Willowbrook!

Winter Camp registration is now online. This is a great chance for younger girls to get some training in during the Christmas Break from school. Click here for more information on the camp!

October On the Move

October is flying by! Before we know it we will be having club practices and tournaments!

The Gator Fall League was a great success. We had a great turn out and all of the players improved tremendously. Congratulations go out to Coach Latisha's team who took 1st place on the last day of the league. THIS SUNDAY is the Parent's Volleyball Clinic hosted by Rich Richardson and Gordon Morrision. It begins at 2pm and is a great opportunity for parents to come out and learn more about the game of volleyball. It is a perfect time to ask all those questions about volleyball that you wonder about. Best of all, the clinic is FREE!!!

We also still have our Sunday Skills Sessions going on. These are postition training sessions for players from 7th grade up to Seniors in high school. It costs $40 and is from 2pm-4pm on Sundays. Come out and bring a friend!

Gator Fall League

We are halfway through the Fall League and everyone is having a blast and learning so much! We have two weeks left until the end of the league :( Last night everyone wore their shirts and the teams got to play some games after some more training. Here are a few pics we took. The group shots kept coming out blurry, so this is the best one we got. If you got cut out for some reason, no worries! We will get many more pictures before the end of the league!

Willowbrook Update

Willowbrook is up and running and we are so excited. There were a few downed trees from the hurricane, but no major damage. We were very fortunate to have only lost power for about a week.

All programs are back! This includes the Fall League every Monday and Wednesday. We will be adding on a week at the end of the league to make up for the missed one. Now the league will run through October 15th! We have over 100 girls playing each week and they are having a blast while learning all the skills to play volleyball.

We also have Sunday Skills Sessions for players in 7th grade or older. This is a position training session that is every Sunday from 2pm-4pm. The cost is only $40 and is great time to work on your position skills. We also have adult open gym which has moved to Tuesdays from 7pm-9pm. It is $10 so come out and play and bring some friends!

Asics Willowbrook is hosting a FREE Parents' Volleyball Clinic on October 26th, at 2pm. It will cover some rules for parents and volleyball rules and signals. This is a great time for parents to come out, ask questions, and learn more about the game of volleyball. It will be hosted by Gordon Morrison and Rich Richardson.

Ike Update

Currently Willowbrook does not have power, along with many other people. Therefore there will be nothing at the Complex this week. The Gator Fall League will be pushed back a week and will start again on Monday, September 22nd. There will be no privates or anything else at the Complex.

Willowbrook withstood the hurricane and as soon as power is restored, we will be up and running again. Please check back for updates. You can also call the Willowbrook number for an updated message on the machine. Hope everyone is safe and well, and has power or gets it back soon!

USAV Registration is now open, so please make sure you go to lsvolleyball.org and get registered. Every player must be registered. Remember to make sure you select "Wilowbrook Volleyball Club" as your club. The fee is taken care of, so do not worry about that. Please make sure you do this as soon as possible. The step-by-step directions are on our website if you can not figure it out.

The Gator Fall League is less than a week away. If you have a player in 2nd-7th grade and have not signed up yet, you still have a chance. The online registration is still open or you can stop by Willowbrook during the day and register.

ADULTS: Don't forget about OPEN PLAY nights on Thursdays from 7pm-9pm. It only costs $10.

If you have not filled out your paperwork, gone to a parents meeting, and done uniform try-ons, you need to that THIS SUNDAY. September 7th at 3pm will be a PARENT'S MEETING and UNIFORM TRY-ON. If you can not make it, please email me ASAP so we canget another time worked out.

Summer Camps and Fall League

We have had a great time at all the camps this summer and we are down to the final week. You can still sign up for the Last Chance Camps if you have not yet. There are 2 left. One begins on Monday and the other begins on Thursday. Sign up today!

The Gator Fall League information is now posted on the website. The League will begin on September 8th and go for 5 weeks. This is a great way for younger girls to get to know the basic skills and techniques of volleyball. We have our club coaches and past players coaching the teams and instructing the players. The Pro Shop will be open for the Tax Free Weekend. Come get ready for the season with all new volleyball gear. We will be open Saturday, August 16th and Sunday August 17th, from 12pm-2pm. We sell Asics volleyball shoes, kneepads, spandex, and more. Come by and check the Pro Shop out!

2007-2008 Season: COMPLETE

Congratulations to all of our teams that attended post season tournaments. We are so proud of how well each of the teams did. We sent the 14 White team to AAU, the 12 Red, 14 Red, and 16 White teams to the JVDA Championships, and 13 Red, 15 Red, 16 Red, 17 Red, and 18 Red to Nationals.

Nationals were in Dallas this year and were just completed. Our 13s team did very well, making it to the Silver bracket and ending up tying for 13th place in the National Division. The 15s team and the 18s team both played tough and worked hard all 4 days of the tournament, ending in 31st and 23rd places. The 17s team took a road similar to the 13s and ended up in the Silver bracket at 13th place as well. The 16s team played in the Open division and played very competitively. They ended up in 10th place overall.

The JVDA Championships is a new tournament and was held in Louisville, Kentucky this year. Our 12s team, which was a mixture of two teams from the season, played well, even though they had never played a game together before. They got 15th place in the tournament. The 14s played extremely well and ended up winning the flight they were in on the last day. The 16s team also played well and won their flight as well.

Our 14 White team attended AAU in Florida and had a great experience. They played some tough competition and held their own. This tournament was a great way to end the season.

Once again, congratulations to all of our teams this year. We are so proud of all you have accomplished and we are looking forward to another great season coming up!

Summer League Begins

We had our first week of Summer League this past week and it was great. All of the teams participating had a great time and looked great in their matching shirts. Come out and watch them play. The league lasts through mid-July. Mondays are Freshmen, Tuesdays are 5th-7th graders, Wednesday is JV/Varsity and Thursdays are 8th graders.

We also started Summer Camps this past week and we have had a great turn out. We have camps going on all summer long, even in the beginning of August. Sign up today to reserve your spot!

The Sand League was postponed, but will be in full swing soon. Get together with some friends and sign up today!

Tryouts for the 2008-2009 Club Volleyball Team will be held the week of July 7th. Come out and try out for Asics Willowbrook Volleyball. We have teams for all ages and levels!

Our 14 white team begins play at the AAU Volleyball Tournament in Florida this week so we wish them luck in Orlando! Good Luck girls and have fun!

Summer is Officially Here

Summer League begins tonight with the Freshman starting off! We will have an exciting first week with over 90 teams registered to play. If you are playing in the league, please make sure to check the website for any updates on schedules and other items. Be sure to be here before your game time, so you can warm-up.

Also going on this weekend is the Select Camp. We will have camps coninuously through the summer so make sure you register for one today. They are filling up quickly!

End of a Season

Well the regular season is over for the 2008 season, and we are moving right into post season. We have loved having all of the teams and players this year, and we are already looking forward to next year.

Congratulations to 12 White for winning their last tournament and to 12 Magnolia for placing 2nd. All of the teams have improved tremendously this year and we are so glad that everyone was a part of Willowbrook.

For all the teams that are playing in post seasom, we look forward to watching you for the next few months. It has been exciting, and will only get better over the next few weeks.

Don't forget to sign up for the Select Camp which is coming up the first weekend of June. This is an intense camp with many great players attending. It is also the first chance for Scott and the other members of Willowbrook to evaluate you for next year's club teams.

Coming to a Close

The regular season is coming to a close and it has been a wonderful year.

Congratulations to all the teams! You all played awesome at Regionals this past weekend. A big Congratulations goes out to the 13 Red and 15 Red teams for qualifying for Nationals. The 13 Red team came away with a Silver medal as well as the 17 Red team (who had previously qualified)!

For all the teams that are going to post season. You should have received hotel information, and if you have not, you will within the next day or so. Rooms are blocked for every tournament, so you do not need to worry about finding your own hotel. You will also be receiving an email about post season fees shortly.

Good luck to the Gators, 12s, and 13s that are playing in their final tournament this weekend. It has been a great season for everyone!

Don't forget to register for CAMPS and SUMMER LEAGUE. Spots are filling up quickly so go to the website and register TODAY!

There will be a sand league for both juniors and adults. Information about those leagues will be posted on the internet tomorrow!

Congratulations to the 12 White team! They won the Willowbrook tournament that was held here over the weekend. This was their first big win so a huge congrats to all the girls!

Lone Star sized excitement!

Congratulations to the 16 Red team for qualifying this past weekend at the Lone Star Qualifier at Reliant. All of our teams played very well and we are very proud of them. We are very excited to have 2 teams going to Junior Olympics this summer and we hope for many more to qualify this weekend in Dallas or at Regionals in May! Also a great job goes out to our 13 Red team and 15 Red team for both placing high in the tournament. They played very well and we know they have a great opportunity to qualify at Regionals.

This season is going strong and we know it is only going to get better!

Congratulations are also in order for Elle Dobin and Kendall Burgess. Elle committed to Wright State and will begin playing there in the fall. Kendall has committed to Auburn and will play there in the Fall of 2009. We are very proud of both of these girls and all of the other girls that will be playing in college.

It's March Already!!!

Wow, so it has been a month since I last updated so here it goes.

We are having a Spring Break Camp March 17-20 for girls who are 14 and under. We also have the summer camp shedule posted on our website so be sure to check them out!

Summer League information is also posted online. Check out the link on the left side of the page that says "Camps and Leagues" for more information. Summer League will begin June 2nd and run through the middle of July.

The Tour of Texas and Texas Championship Series had their final stop this past weekend. We are so proud of all of our teams that participated. Our 16 Red team placed 3rd in the Tour, bringing home a plaque for Willowbrook!

Qualifiers start in a couple weeks. For all of our teams traveling to different places-GOOD LUCK!

11 and Under tournament

Willowbrook hosted it's first 11 and under tournament this past Friday. We had six teams come out in the evening and play in pools of three. Willowbrook had a team of it's own in the tournament and they played very well (they are in the blue in the pictures below). For only having practiced a few times together, they looked good. This is a developmental program and I know by the end of the season these girls will be ready for the next level!
In the end the Shockerz 11 and under team won the tournament beating Xtreme 11 Black in the finals.

Another Great Weekend

All of the teams that played at the first tour stop did well. Our 18s team lost their first match, but one the next two-beating Extec and AVA. Our 17 Red team played some tough teams and played them well. 17 White won their first match against TCA-TX played good in their other matches as well. 16 Red played awesome, beating both TX Tornados and Houston Juniors. Our 16 White team played unbelieveable, winning all their matches against TX Tornados, Alamo, TX Elite and AJV. Congratulations to all the teams who played in College Station.

Our 13 Blue team played in the Willowbrook tournament we had and they did amazing! They won their pool and advanced to the gold bracket for playoffs. They ended up in 5th place overall at the tournament. Congratulations on a job well done!

This weekend we have a lot of teams playing. We have our first 11U tournament on Friday so our Developmental team will be playing in that. We also have a bunch of teams in the Houston Power Leage as well as 3 teams heading to College Station for the TCS stop. Good luck to everyone!

Amazing 15's

Congratulations to all the 15's teams. They all played amazingly at the WSC Classic last weekend. All of the teams won all of their matches in pool play to start off the day. They all advanced to the Gold bracket and had to play each other. 15 Plex ended up in 5th place, 15 Blue got 3rd, 15 White got 2nd, and 15 Red won the whole tournament! Congratulations to all the teams!

Eventful Weekend

Everyone was busy this past weekend. With 16 teams in Dallas for the Tour of Texas/TCS Qualifier and 5 teams playing in the Houston Power League, everyone played this weekend and did well.

Here is the 13 Red team at the TCS Qualifier!

We had 8 teams qualify for the Tour and TCS. Those teams are:
18 Red - won all their matches
17 Red
17 White
16 Red - won all the games
16 White
15 Red
14 Red
13 Red - won all the games
A big congratulations to all of them. Everyone else that traveled to Dallas played well, but the competition was tough.

The teams that stayed in Houston also did well in the Power League. 12 Red won all of their games and placed 1st in their pool. 12 White placed 2nd in their pool, 13 Blue placed 3rd, and 12 Magnolia and 12 Blue placed 4th. All of the teams are learning a lot and improving every tournament. Congratulations to everyone in Houston Power League.

I hope you all had a wonderful time over the holidays. It is now time to get into the full swing of things over at Willowbrook. This weekend we have our Tour of Texas and TCS Qualifiers in Dallas. The players will be receiving their schedules at practice this week.

We also have the Houston Power League. Our 12 Red and 12 Magnolia teams are playing Saturday at Willowbrook and the 12 White and 12 Blue teams will be at the Tornados facility. Our 13 Blue team will be playing on Sunday at the Tornados facility. The players will receive times and maps at practice tonight.

Congratulations to our 14's teams (and 13's) that played at Willowbrook this past weekend and to the 16's that played at Texas Thunder.

Our 14 Red team advanced to the Gold bracket and placed 3rd in the tournament. 14 Blue also made it to the Gold bracket and ended up placing 5th. Congrats on making it to the Gold bracket. Our 14 White team advanced to the Silver bracket and ended up 13th place in the tournament. Our 13 Red team played in the 14's tournament, went to the Silver bracket and won the bracket. They placed 9th in the tournament.

Our 16 White team played at Texas Thunder and made it to the Finals and ended up placing 2nd. Our 16 Blue team also played well and made it to the semifinals before losing to the White team.

We are so proud of all of our teams and their hard work!

I would also like to congratulate a few of our alumni who advanced to the NCAA Tournament. Congratulations to Brittany Collins at Texas State, Jennifer Doris at Texas, and Lindsey Eckenrode at Wichita State. Although Wichita State lost to Nebraska in the tournament, Lindsey was acknowledged. Check out this article! We are so proud of all of you!

The pools for everyone this weekend are now posted.

All ages begin at 8am except the 17's who begin at 9am. Please remember if you already have your red mesh shorts, to always wear those if you are not on the court, and if you don't have them yet (or it is cold) please wear your warm up pants.

Scorekeeper and Referee Clinic is Friday, November 30th at 6:30pm at WSC.

Picture Day will be December 12th and 13th. All teams will be taking pictures as well a individual pictures if you would like. All players will receive the picture information next week. Team photo times will start at 5:30 so some teams will need to get here early. I will be passing out a schedule to the players next week.

Tournaments

Tournaments begin THIS Saturday.

12's, 14's, 16's, and 18's will be at Willowbrook and 13's, 15's, and 17's will be at Spike Sport. The pools will be posted soon so you will be able to see what time you play at. Check with your coaches at practice and the website for more information about this weekend.

The Tour of Texas and TCS Qualifier are January 5th-6th in Dallas. All travel teams 13-18 will be going to this tournament. 13 Blue, 12 Red, White, Blue and Magnolia will be participating in the Houston Power League that weekend, so they will be staying in town.

For the teams traveling to Dallas, here is the travel information for you:

18 Red, 17 White, 16 White, 16 Blue- will be staying at the West End Hotel at 1015 Elm Street (75202)

17 Blue, 16 Red, ALL 15 teams, 14 White, 13 Red, and 13 White -will be staying at the Hilton Anatole at 2201 Stemmons Freeway (75207)

On Friday night we had a great time at the UH vs. SMU volleyball game. SMU won in 5 games, so it was very exciting. Our girls also got to play on the court in between the second and third games.

Practices start THIS WEEK for all 12's-18's so get excited. CAP will not be starting until December.

If you want to order the t-shirt, polo, or red mesh shorts, please turn in the order form to me ASAP. I will be doing an initial order at the beginning of next week so please get the forms to me.

For those that participated in the fundraiser, please bring your money and/or extra books to the first practice.

It is November, and you all know what that means. . . time for some club volleyball!

Practice will begin on November 14th for 12-15 and on November 15th for 16-18. Gators and 11 & Under will begin at the beginning of January. If for some reason you have not registered with the club through the region, you need to do so before the first practice. If you are not registered, you will not be able to practice or play.

The tournament schedule is posted, with cities listed, on the website.

The UH vs. SMU volleyball game is next Friday, November 9th at 7pm. If you ordered tickets and have not paid, please do so ASAP.

We will be having a signing party for our seniors that are going to play in college. As soon as we set a day and time, I will let you all know, but I know the girls would appreciate your support on this exciting day.

UH Volleyball Game

The UH Volleyball game, Willowbrook Club Night is just around the corner. The game will be on November 9th at 7 PM on UH's campus. They are playing the SMU Mustangs so it should be a great game. Tickets are only $2, but you must let me know by October 31st if you are going or not. The first 100 people at the game get Cougar mini volleyballs, there will be a mini scrimmage between games 2 and 3, and there will be other contests and on court games. Grab your friends, and come out for an exciting night and a great way to kick off the club season!

The Weekend!

It's the weekend! We have a lot going on around WSC right now and club practices start in just a few weeks!

This weekend we have the Volleyball Clinic for Parents. You will have the chance to learn all about volleyball and get to hang out with other club parents. The FREE, YES FREE, clinic is on Sunday, October 21, 2007 at 2:30 PM in the big gym. That means you can bring your daughter to Sunday Skills at 2PM and be here for the clinic while she is playing.

Which brings us to Sunday Skills sesssions. This is for players to get some training in dealing with their position. Sunday Skills is from 2PM - 4PM and is $30 at the door. These sessions are geared for girls that are in 7th grade or older.

The tournament schedule (tentative) has been posted so you can go check out what tournaments you will be at.

Gordon Morrison and Rich Richardson (USAV Certified referees) are holding a free clinic for beginner and seasoned club volleyball PARENTS here at Willowbrook this Sunday. This is a great opportunity for you to come out and learn everything you have ever wanted to know about volleyball. Come by THIS SUNDAY, October 21, 2007 at 2:30 PM in the big gym.

Sunday Skills sessions are still going on. From 2PM - 4PM, Sunday Skills sessions are set up as position training and is for girls in 7th grade or older. The cost is $30 per session and you can pay at the door.

Don't foget about Willowbrook Club Night at UH Volleyball on November 9th. Univerity of Houston vs SMU Tickets are only $2. There will be prizes and games during the match. Please email me if you want to go and I will collect money and purchase tickets. This will be a great chance for us all to have a great time together!

The A-Team started off the night with 2 wins, 25-13 and 25-18. Christina Smith hit the ball 7 times with no return and also had 7 great serves. Alexis Rau also had a great serving game with 7.

October 3rd Deadline

The deadline to be registered through the region is this Wednesday, October 3rd. Please register if you have not done so already. If you are having problems, we are having a registration help day on October 3rd from 7pm-8pm in the main gym at WSC. If you were registered last year, but do not remember your log in information, please email Will Vick (click here for his email) with the player's name, birthdate, club and email.

We got another shipment of Entertainment books in so if you would like to sell them for the fundraiser, please email me and let me know how many you would like so I can set them aside. They are $20 per book and a great value.

UH volleyball vs. SMU

On November 9th it will be Willowbrook club night at the University of Houston. Tickets are only $2 for the volleyball game vs. SMU if we order them in advance. If you are interested, please email me so I can get a count of people and collect money. There will be prizes and games and it will be so much fun! This is a great time for some club and team bonding as well as a chance to watch some great volleyball. There is a flyer on the website if you want to check it out for some more information.

Don't forget that Registration must be done by October 3rd (next week). Please make sure you have done this!

JDRF Walk to Cure Diabetes

The Gator Fall League started last night and we have a bunch of girls participating. We are so excited to watch them all learn about volleyball and watch them play a little!

I have more responses to the fundraiser then I thought I would. I have already handed out the first shipment for people to sell. I should be getting more books in by the beginning of next week. Please send me an email and let me know how many you are wanting to sell so I can put them aside.

We have posted the date for the first club practice. If you are in the 12-15 age group that practices on Mondays and Wednesdays, you will begin on Wednesday November 14th. for the 16-18 girls, you will have your first practice on Thursday November 15th.

Payments are due at the end of this week!!!!!

Registration is up and running, so please make sure you go to www.lsvolleyball.org and register. This is mandatory and I need the signed waiver by October 3rd. On the instruction sheet it says that the club name must be next to the player's name on the waiver. For some reason it is not showing up, so don't worry about that.

If you know of anyone that wants to play club volleyball, but has not found a club, let them know about Elite Juniors. They are holding try outs THIS SUNDAY (September 9th) at Willowbrook. 12's - 14's will start at 1pm and 15's-18's will start at 2:30pm. For more information, call 281-444-6642.

We have built a deck so there is a nice area around the sand volleyball court we are putting in. Check out the picture of the week for a sneak peek at the new deck area.

Fundraisers, Payments, and More!

We will be offering a fundraising opportunity in a couple of weeks. Players will have the chance to sell Entertainment books (www.entertainment.com). I will be getting more information shortly and will let everyone know when the books are in, but I just wanted to give you a heads up!

Your first payment is due on September 15th. Please make sure it is in to me BEFORE the 15th. Also, if you plan on paying the whole amount for the discount, the whole amount must be in to me by the 15th.

If you are playing volleyball for your school, we would love to come watch a game. Please send me your schedule (carolyn@willowbrooksports.com) so we can figure out a time to come and watch you!

Please let me know about any awards our club girls are getting so I can post them on the website!

What's going on at WSC. . .

There are still a few spots available on Willowbrook Juniors. We have one 15's spot, a few 15 Plex spots, and some 12's spots. If you know anyone who may be interested in joining the club, please have them email Scott Mayhew (scott@willowbrooksports.com) to set up a private evaluation.

We will be hosting a free clinic for all parents to learn the ins and outs of club volleyball and volleyball in general. This will be hosted by Gordon Morrison and Rich Richardson (USAV Certified Referees). It will be held on Sunday, October 21, 2007 at 2:30pm in the big gym so mark your calendars!

USAV/Lone Star Volleyball Registration opens September 1st. This is mandatory for all club players. Please make sure you have done this and turned in the signed forms to me by October 3rd. The instruction sheet is on our website if you lost it. If you do not understand it or can not figure it out, please come to our work day on October 3rd from 7pm-8pm so we can help you get it completed.

Sand Volleyball Court
